TEDxMarin Salon on Sleep and Dreaming

One-third of our lives are spent sleeping and a good portion of this time is spent dreaming. Why?

On April 16th, 2021, TEDxMarin brings together an A-list set of sleep and dream researchers. They will discuss how the brain functions during sleep, why we dream, the importance of stress relief, and other strategies for how we can sleep better. We will also discuss what happens in the brain when we dream, and the role and significance of lucid dreaming and nightmares.

We know sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being, yet unhealthy sleep patterns and sleep deprivation are at all-time highs. Lack of sleep is linked to heart disease, depression, obesity, and lower life expectancy. Seventy million people suffer from chronic, severe sleep disorders in the United States alone.

Proper sleep leads to healthy brain function, physical health, enhanced work, and physical performance, and reduces the risks for dementia and related memory issues.

This fascinating salon features some of the top researchers in their field and we guarantee they won’t be a snooze.
