FORMAT
For a TEDxSALON, the format is lecture style. We go deep into one specific TOPIC, with insights from leaders in their field and include time for a moderated conversation among the speakers.
TEDxMarin its first Salon on The Climate Crisis
Political Realities, Bay Area Mitigation, Global Migration, and Solution Strategies
NOTE: This event is scheduled for ONLINE ONLY on Thursday, June 25th. Register soon.
Despite Covid-19, Climate change may be the ultimate long term test of our time, and the time to take action is quickly running out. Can we still change the course and alter worst-case scenarios? Will it require an unprecedented effort from all sectors of society? The answer for both appears to be YES.
Our first 2020 TEDxSalon will bring together some of the foremost thinkers in government, climate mitigation, research, science, and the future. To not only engage in truthful analysis of the current state of the things, but more importantly, what our best solutions might be, and how political motivation, public engagement, and private investment can work together to turn this profound and most threatening tide.
This online program will discuss: How sea-level rise and extreme heat will play out in the Bay Area, Climate Justice, Decarbonization efforts, and economic impacts of various solutions including inaction, what the Government is planning, future energy technologies and where possible and quicker solutions may be found, and what human migration projections look like. We will also explore the emotional and human element of “adaption” to our new realities.
At TEDxMarin, we believe that accelerating positive change begins with an informed citizenry, deep understanding, and hopeful motivation. We’re looking forward to this very special evening to understand better the challenges we face and the road to a better future for all.
Don’t miss this important Salon.
We hope you will join this important online set of presentations to be premiered on June 25th online only.
